About This Game
Pokémon Shield is a role-playing adventure game for Nintendo Switch that takes players on a journey through the Galar region. The game introduces a new generation of Pokémon, new characters, different environments, and several features that give Trainers more ways to explore, battle, and build their Pokémon team.
At the beginning of the adventure, players can choose one of three partner Pokémon: Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble. Each starter has its own type and personality, giving players an important first choice before beginning their journey.
As players travel through Galar, they can catch, train, and battle Pokémon while taking on the Gym Challenge and working toward becoming the Champion of the region. Players will also encounter Team Yell and uncover the mystery surrounding the Legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta.
Explore the Wild Area
One of the major features of Pokémon Shield is the Wild Area, a large open region where players can freely explore and control the camera. The area contains different types of environments and a wide variety of Pokémon.
Weather and the surrounding environment can affect which Pokémon appear, giving players more reasons to explore different parts of the Wild Area.
Players can also connect with other Trainers in the Wild Area and participate in different multiplayer activities.
Dynamax and Max Raid Battles
Pokémon Shield introduces the Dynamax phenomenon, which allows certain Pokémon to become enormous during battles and gain increased power.
Players can participate in Max Raid Battles and team up with up to three other Trainers locally or online to challenge powerful Dynamax Pokémon. After defeating these Pokémon, players may have an opportunity to catch them.
Some Pokémon can also use Gigantamax forms, which give them a different appearance and access to powerful G-Max Moves.
Build Your Pokémon Team
Players can catch different Pokémon throughout their journey and create a team that matches their preferred battle strategy. Pokémon can be trained, leveled up, and used in different battles as players progress through the Galar region.
The game also includes Poké Jobs, allowing players to send Pokémon on assignments where they can gain experience.
Players can visit Pokémon Camp as well, where they can interact with their Pokémon, play with them, and cook together.
Customize Your Trainer
Pokémon Shield also allows players to customize the appearance of their Trainer. Players can visit shops and choose different clothing items and hairstyles to create their preferred look.
The Galar region contains peaceful countryside, modern cities, forests, mountains, and other environments to explore. Players can discover new Pokémon alongside familiar Pokémon that appear in different Galarian forms.
The game also supports local wireless and online multiplayer features, allowing Trainers to battle and interact with other players.
